Peace In The Middle East?

For several years, Softball Politis has followed the travails of Israel and its attempts to find peace in the Middle East. Sadly, Israelites have had difficult times as they attempted to live amongst Arabs who resent their presence in the small area occupied by these warring parties.

Israel’s latest odyssey began after World War II when the State of Israel was founded. And for all the time between inception and today, violence, vitriol, threats and hardship have tormented the country and its inhabitants.

I’ve considered what it would be like to share a place with hostile neighbors. Different people have lived with each other peacefully for many years. Resentment still disrupts many people around the globe. These differences are brought to life with overt hatred and resentment that should not exist between fellow human beings.

Violence arises in many ways, but the most prevalent is racial. Trying to temper these feelings is a long-lost effort for many people around the world.

Peaceful relations with neighboring countries should be a simple thing to manage. But humans are frequently finding reasons to conflict with each other. Fortunately, the US serves as a mediator when nations fight with each other. Even though we attempt to find fair solutions, in some serious situations, it doesn’t always work out well.

The Middle East is one of the most difficult places in the world. Jews have taken residence in an area that is overwhelmed by Arabs.

The religions of Arabs are different from Judaism. Arabs are less educated than Jews. And most importantly Arabs are resentful of America because the State of Israel is a close ally and would be alone without support of the US.

The frustration that results when Arabs conflict with Israel is a very big problem. Jews have been trying to live peacefully in the Middle East for thousands of years, arguably as long as Arabs. You would think that would be enough time to mend fences and find ways to live peacefully.

No, and now the situation has become seriously inflamed. Arab nations have joined unholy alliances with terrorist groups to make life more difficult for Jews. Arabs have openly begun to use violence to make Western countries uncomfortable with migration that has taken place over the past 25 years. Many Arabs have migrated to America and to Europe to build new lives. But, they have taken advantage of immigration laws and freedoms and now are living in large groups.

To make matters worse, illegal immigrants have become a concern of more people, especially young ones in Europe and America. When I observe young Jews protesting in favor of violent actions by terrorist organizations, I scratch my head. When the mayor of New York City speaks out in favor of terrorist groups in the US and in the Middle East, I am at sea.

And finally, I must question whether these young people appreciate the meaning of socialism and communism. Why would young people march against peaceful coexistence? Why would young people side with violent elements?
